Stack Testing for Combustion Gases
Combustion gas testing provides an understanding of the combustion conditions. Optimizing the discharges can improve efficiency, save money and reduce discharges.
Air quality tests of a boiler discharge can be useful in determining the efficiency of the boiler. An indication of poor combustion conditions is high oxygen and low carbon dioxide concentrations. Well-tuned boilers should be tested on a regular basis.
Combustion gases in stacks can be measured with an electronic gas analyser. K2 Environmental owns and operates two electronic gas analysers. The following gases can be detected and reported:
- Sulphur dioxide (SO2)
- Oxygen (O2)
- Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)
- Nitrogen Oxide (NO)
- Carbon Monoxide (CO)
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
- Hydrocarbons
These gases can be monitored over varying time periods, and the data is captured by logging directly to a laptop computer. K2 Environmental has a full suite of calibration gases which are used to ensure that the measurements are traceable against reference gases.
